Grievance Redressal Cell

To realize the primary needs of thestudents and staff and secure civil liberties for everybody, a GrievanceRedressal Cell has been constituted at SNTI. Protection of human rights isessential for all round development of an individual’s personality. 

The cell is intended to findsolutions for grievances like physical or mental harassment, complaintsregarding class room teaching, class room management, completion of syllabus,teaching methodology, infrastructure maintenance and upgradation, etc. if and whenthey arise. The Grievance Redressal Cell has been set up at SNTI to genuinelyunderstand the grievances of students and parents and to ensure remedialaction.

OBJECTIVES

The main objective of the GrievanceCell is to promote and maintain a conducive and harmonious educationalenvironment among the students. The Students’ Grievance Cell is constituted forthe redressal of the problems reported by the students of the College. This iswith the following objectives in mind

a) The cell is formed in order to keepthe healthy working atmosphere amongst staff, students and parents.

b) This cell helps Students torecord their complaints and solve their problems related to academics,resources and personal grievances freely and frankly without any fear ofvictimization.

c) To keep the dignity of thecollege high by ensuring conflict free atmosphere in the College by promotinggood Student-Student relationship and Student-teacher relationship.

d) To ensure effective solution tothe student grievances with an impartial and fair approach.

e) In order to advising Students ofthe College to respect each other and be patient whenever any occasion ofconflict arises.

f) To advise all the students torefrain from stirring up students against other students, teachers and Collegeadministration.

g) Ragging in any form is strictlyprohibited in and outside the institution.

h) Any violation of ragging anddisciplinary rules should be urgently brought to the notice of the Principal.

i) Ragging Complaints will behandled as per ragging rules.

j) Woman Harassment complaints willbe handled as per government guidelines by respective section.

STUDENT REDRESSAL ANDWELFARE CELL

Scient Institute of Technology is committed to provide asafe, fair and harmonious learning and working environment. The StudentGrievance Redressal Cell has been reconstituted on 18-07-2014 toredress the grievances and complaints of the students. The cell facilitates theresolution of grievances in a fair and impartial manner involving therespective Department (dealing with the substantive function connected with thegrievance), maintaining necessary confidentiality, as the case may be. Anystakeholder with a genuine grievance may approach Cell to submit his/hergrievance in writing.

Functions of Cell

a) The function of the cell is tolook into the complaints lodged by any student, and judge its merit. 

b) The Grievance cell is alsoempowered to look into matters of harassment. 

c) Anyone with a genuine grievancemay approach the department members in person, or in consultation with theofficer in-charge Students’ Grievance Cell. 

d) In case the person is unwillingto appear in self, grievances may be dropped in writing at the letterbox/suggestion box of the Grievance Cell.

Rolesand Responsibilities

a) To uphold the dignity of theCollege by ensuring strife free atmosphere in the College through promotion ofcordial Student-Student relationship and Student-teacher relationship etc

b) To provide responsive,accountable and easily accessible machinery for settlement of grievances and totake measures in the college undertakings to ensure expeditious settlement ofgrievances of Students in order to maintain a harmonious educational atmospherein the institute.

c) It is to deal with the complexsituations in a tactful manner to lesson the condition felt to be oppressive ordissatisfied.

d) To encourage the Students toexpress their grievances / problems freely and frankly, without any fear ofbeing victimized.

e) To advertise students of the SNTIto respect the right and dignity of one another and show utmost restraint andpatience whenever any occasion of rift arises.

f) To advertise all the students torefrain from inciting students against other students, teachers and Collegeadministration.

g) To advertise all staffs to beaffectionate towards students and not behave in a vindictive manner towards anyof them for any reason.

h) To support, those students whohave been deprived of the services offered by the College, for which he/she isentitled.

i) To make officials of the Collegeresponsive, accountable and courteous in dealing with the students.

j) To ensure effective solution tothe student’s grievances with an impartial and fair approach.

Procedure for lodgingcomplaint

a) The students may feel free to putup a grievance in writing/or Email to the respective committee incharge.

b) The Grievance Cell will act uponthose cases which have been forwarded along with the necessary documents.

c) The Grievance Cell will assurethat the grievance has been properly solved in a stipulated time limit providedby the cell.

WOMENGRIEVANCE CELL

            The Women Grievance Redressal cell was constituted on 14-06-2011.TheCell is responsible for looking into any complaints filed by students &staff about Women Grievances at the college. The functions of the cell are topurely safeguard the rights of female students, faculty and staff members ofwomen and also to provide a platform for listening to complaints. The Cell alsotries to incorporate hygiene habits and ensure a healthy atmosphere in andaround the college. It tries to equip them with the knowledge of their legalrights and redressal of their grievances. To facilitate speedy delivery ofjustice, meetings are organized regularly. The counseling cell processes oraland written complaints. Time to time the cell conducts seminars and lectures byspecialists and eminent personalities to stop violence against women, sexualharassment at work and about health, hygiene etc.

          In view of the increasing number of girl students in the campus, WomenGrievance Redressal Cell at SNTI makes every effort to ensure that the girlsfeel at home. The cell resolves common problems of girl students and also takesup individual cases of sexual harassment, if any. Ragging in the hostels istotally disallowed, and any adventure in this respect is punishable.

Roles and Responsibilities

a) The Cell will deal with the cases/ complaints of sexual annoyance and any other type of harassment of the femalestudents, teaching and non-teaching women staff of the college.

b) The Cell shall process all theindividual complaints and take suitable action thereon in the manner and modeas per the college norms.

c) The Cell will provide assistanceto the Faculty/Colleges/Institute for taking preventive steps in the matter ofgender discrimination and sexual harassment.

d) The Cell may form / review theguidelines / policy for redressal of the grievance as required from time totime, which may be in accordance with those issued by Supreme Court andGovernment Agencies.

e) To conduct meeting wheneverrequired and discuss relevant issues, in consultation with the Director seekinghis approval.
